They say you should go away to find yourself. But I’m not looking for something. Instead, I’m yearning to let go of something. The stress, the boredom, the restlessness, the arrogance and the feeling that life is passing by without my control.
I go away to lose myself. And I think everyone should take the time to do the same.
Life at home isn’t bad, but life away from home can be freeing. Forget about the demands of daily life and let your mind wander to a brighter and simpler place.
You’re never going to enjoy life if you don’t know how to separate responsibilities and leisure. There’s a time and a place for work, chores, and bills. But there’s a need to experience more out of life and that need is like hunger if left unfulfilled.
That’s why I got up at 4:20 am on Saturday and drove hours to Yosemite only to turn back around Sunday afternoon and drive home. I did it because I know that without nourishing the hunger of my soul, I won’t be able to function at my best in the other aspects of my life.
